When booking your Madrid hotel and vacation package you should also consider international travel insurance for your trip. There are some important things to understand about how travel insurance, such as Good2Go insurance, can be used in case of an emergency in Spain.
Madrid has a low crime rate, but visitors can still fall victim to tourist-related crimes. In this event, the local police are usually quite sympathetic and will provide you with a report for your insurance claims. The Spanish public health care system is reliable and the ER wards in Spanish hospitals are first rate. For lesser illness or injury a private clinic will usually suffice. Whether you go to a hospital or clinic, they will expect you to pay cash up front. Your travel insurance company will pick up the tab later. Travel insurance will cover medical emergencies, but it also provides baggage protection, accident protection, trip protection and emergency assistance.

Hotel rates are on the rise internationally, but cheap hotels in Madrid and other European cities can still be found. In fact the average rates on cheap hotels throughout the continent actually fell in the latter half of 2010. This has led to a great selection of cheap hotels for Britons and overseas tourists to choose from, and when combined with the increase in cheap flights to Europe, puts a European vacation within reach of a lot more people this year.
Athens, Dublin, Lisbon, and Madrid are currently the best European destinations for cheap hotels. A weaker Euro against the US dollar and British Pound Sterling is also making a great value even better for tourists from these countries, and travel analysts are expecting to see a pickup in Spain and Portugal holidays this summer as a result.
